Predominantly, Let's know about various systematic things that are to be done at the port of entry.

1. Immigration Check: 

It is done for the International people who enter a foreign country to live their permanently or temporarily. Checking is done by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) officials. The Official will stamp the passport with the date of arrival to United States after going through various documents.

2. Customs Check: 

The main intention of the customs check is to find the sources such as drugs, excessive amounts of currency or other prohibited items. The Customs Officer has the right to check the entire luggage and also can take out any offensive products.

Before landing on to the United States, the flight officials will give the immigration form to all the passengers who are not the citizens of United States. Passengers has to fill that form and submit it during the immigration check to the Immigration officer. 

Immigration officer will check all the documents related to your purpose of entry to the United States. He / She may also ask you several questions regarding your visit. The questions may include about the university, course of study, financial status, purpose of visit, etc., If they are not convinced with the answers then your entry will be declined and you'll be deported you back to your home country. Sometimes, you may even be asked to wait for sometime to review your documents and to know more about your background. 

After getting the stamping from the Immigration officer, now it's time to collect the luggage and proceed to the customs check. You need to scan all the luggage and any illegal, harmful products or any germinating crops or food will be taken out then and there. Carrying huge amounts of money or gold is also not allowed. Illegal imports of drugs or any other harmful contents will lead you to huge trouble. If everything is fine, then you'll be allowed to proceed with your luggage.

After the customs check, we have to move on with our luggage to the exit if there is no connecting flight or else we have to go to check-in the luggage again and move to the desired gate. Keep checking the gate numbers, they might change at times. So, have an eye on it as it will put you in trouble if you are informed that the gate has been changed in the last minute.
